Just as the clouds shape and shift, move and mold, change and transform — we humans do just the same.
This week I share a poem I wrote inspired by the Buddhist teachings of no birth, no death. I guess you could also say it is also inspired by physics and the law of conservation of energy, which states energy is never created nor destroyed; only transformed.
This year has held a lot of death, both in my personal life and in the global, collective experience. Death used to be frightening to me, as someone who grew up as an atheist. But as I’ve grown older and cultivated a deep connection to spirituality, I find comfort in no longer seeing death as an ending or an absolute; I find comfort in seeing death as a part of the seemingly infinite flow of energetic transformation.
I recently got a tattoo of the saying “no coming, no going” to remind me of the impermanence yet interconnection of all things, including my own life. To motivate me to live in gratitude. To remember that this little ‘ol human experience is but a blip in time, and how truly miraculous, wonderful, and special that is. And to never forget my inherent place in the cosmos, along with all other beings, with all other things.
This week I turn twenty seven, and I embrace my next chapter with excitement, joy, and trust. Happy Halloween and Samhain, to all who celebrate!
I hope you enjoy the poem, and I send you big hugs and big love!

And when I die
Carry me to the sea
And don’t forget
I am with you in the breeze
When it dances gently on your skin
That is how I'll give you a kiss
And in the trees
When they shake and shimmy
That is how I'll say hello
And in the rain
When it catches you off guard
That is how I'll make you stop in your tracks, and laugh aloud.
And especially when you see a rainbow
Shining brightly in the sky
That is how I'll say I love you, and show you
That I am still alive.
